| Welcome to The Max Gallery | |||
The Max Gallery is owned and
operated by Max Mikesell and Elizabeth, his gorgeous and talented wife (who
teaches
the culinary arts at Pima Community College in Tucson). Max has been an art dealer
in Tucson for over twenty-five years. He met Elizabeth in 1979, and both
of them went to work for
Ted DeGrazia, living at the Gallery of the Sun, DeGrazia’s studio where he created
and
displayed his world-renowned art. “Ted was a guru, instilling in us a greater
understanding
of art than we had ever known,” Max recalls.Max started his first Tucson gallery in what is known as Barrio Viejo, and soon discovered that being both artist and gallery owner/director meant doing justice to neither role. He went to work for El Presidio Gallery, becoming the gallery director before striking out on his own. These experiences and the ideas gained during this period are now being used to make The Max Gallery a unique and amazingly interactive gallery. The artists he represents are a diverse and truly eclectic blend that makes this gallery a must-see destination. Says Max, “These artists are what make this gallery the truly special place that it is. I’ve been blessed with their presence.” |
